TF-EMDR

Year Round

In-OFFice EMDR and Extended Session

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapy for treating trauma, chronic negative thoughts, and other mental health disorders.  EMDR is a part of energy psychology, helping the client heal their own brain and addressing the body/nervous system response. Trauma is trapped and stored in the body and tissues and must be moved.  EMDR can also help overcome sports-related issues and enhance confidence and skill development.  EMDR can also be utilized to help clients overcome the mental drain and depression that comes from chronic illness,  permanent injury, or disability.  In-office therapy is located in Evanston; sometimes telehealth is an option at various stages of therapy.

TF-EMDR

Late Spring - Fall

TF-EMDR

Therapeutic Fly Fishing with EMDR was developed by Tony Parmenter, MA CEO, Seiyu I.H.T.   It integrates with fly fishing and traditional Tenkara fly-fishing with EMDR, to allow a 7 senses healing approach to trauma and other mental health conditions. Tony's clinical work on this protocol was published in the Journal of Military and Veterans Health.

Tony works closely with Dan Pierce, EMDR Therapist and Maine Tenkara Guide and Instructor. Freedom Mountain Counseling has trained with Dan Pierce, LCPC-C to learn the basics of Tenkara in 2023, to further teach clients this therapeutic sport. Tony, Dan, Alex Danilowicz, LCSW, and Freedom Mountain Counseling meet monthly to consult about TF-EMDR.

Eco therapy

Late Spring -Fall

Eco Therapy

Winter

Winter EcoTherapy: 7s-EMDR

Winter in Wyoming is a very long season and can be difficult to get through for many people. Combining snowshoeing or cross-country skiing with EMDR provides clients the ability to continue their nature-based EMDR work during those colder seasons, while also benefiting from physical exercise at their fitness level.

Victoria Kelm-Foy, LCSW, CFMH, Certified EMDR Therapist has merged EMDR and these winter sports to expand on the EMDR experience with the 7 Senses approach. She has created and named this modality 7S-EMDR. She is currently also working on including other activities and EMDR into the 7S-EMDR protocol.  More details will be added to the website as they unfold.

ECOTHERAPY

Therapy in the outdoors includes the 7 senses (see, hear, feel, taste, touch, action, and emotion). Combining traditional evidenced-based psychotherapy in a nature setting allows relaxation to the nervous system, gained awareness, and the experience of internal silence and "awe."  This type of healing cannot be replicated in an office setting.  Freedom Mountain Counseling provides this modality to fit the client's needs, activity preferences, and skill level.

If your traditional talk therapy is not working, it is time to address the mind/body response through ecotherapy.

TF-emdr

This method uses traditional fly-fishing methods and Japanese fly-fishing method called Tenkara, which is simple and requires less equipment than traditional fly rods with reels.  TF - EMDR Integrates a whole-person perspective with specifically designed attachment-focused, nervous system (polyvagal), and mindfulness-based activities. (Seiyu Institute for Training and Healing, L3C, 2023). TF-EMDR can involve either a fixed line method or the traditional rod and reel, depending on the need.

I have been a Wyoming resident since 2012 when I moved from Colorado. Wyoming led me to the love of the outdoors.  I am also a school counselor for BOCES Region V and work with children and adolescents in Evanston,  who receive special education services.   Before becoming a therapist, I worked in various positions in law enforcement for 15 years. I have been in the mental health field since 2012, working in multiple locations in Evanston.
I am passionate about helping clients/community members overcome their past and gain freedom from their chronic mental health problems through EMDR therapy. I provide eco-EMDR and nature-based therapy that meets the client where they are. My ultimate goal is to empower clients to live more adaptive and meaningful lives through an evidenced-based model of healing that involves movement (green exercise), nature, TF-EMDR, 7S-EMDR, and at the client's fitness level.  I have a mind-body approach that addresses all aspects of the person, not just thoughts and feelings.  I also incorporate other clinical approaches such at Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Flash Technique,  and Internal Family Systems.
I specialize in trauma and helping individuals overcome post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, chronic negative thoughts, interpersonal problems, spiritual crises, performance issues (sports), low self-esteem, grief and loss, and phobias. I have experience working with adults, teens, veterans, and first responders. As an active-duty Army Veteran and previous first responder, I understand the needs and stressors of these populations as a therapist.
The therapeutic relationship is highly important to me, and I strive to make clients feel safe and comfortable. I also have a clinical approach through a polyvagal lens and help clients to understand their nervous system, and how it affects their mood and behavior.  Understanding the mind and body connection is vital in the healing journey. As an Amen Certified Brain Health Professional, I also teach clients about brain health, prevention for disease, and highlight what is needed to maintain healthy brain function, along with offering high-grade BrainMD (Dr. Amen) natural health supplements in-office. These various supplements aid in focus, energy, mood,  sleep, and aid in calming.

pSYCHIATRIC mED MANAGEMENT rEFERRAL

Freedom Mountain Counseling is excited to collaborate and refer clients to
Meadowlark Mind and Body, LLC for medication management.
Meadowlark and FMC share the same values of mind and body regarding mental health. This includes diet, supplements, and exercise as the foundation. Sometimes medications are needed and it is important to find a provider who specializes in psychiatric medications.  Brandon Jaggi, PMHNP-BC, specializes in psychiatric medications, along with hormone replacement, which is also vital to mental health.
